i-Ready Practice: How to adjust what your students are practicing

Now that students have completed the BOY and MOY i-Ready diagnostics, you may feel that the practice portion of i-Ready needs to be adjusted for some or all of your students. For instance, the diagnostic may show the student needs grade 1 math standards, but the student is performing at a higher level during class time or on Investigations units.
*When clicking on the links below, you will get a redirect notice. Click the link as it is listed again. When page loads, scroll down the list until you see the expanded directions.

To Learn More About How the BOY and MOY Diagnostics Determine Learning Paths, Click Here.
To Better Understand How to View Diagnostic Data for your students, Click Here.

Here are some options for adjusting the student learning paths:

-You can adjust a  specific lesson path for an individual student. Click the link below to learn how.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KuvlcYuRPYvrmUGwn8Jgm1gAl9Caz-2W/view?usp=sharing
*Note, if you are moving a student back to lower grade level content, the student MAY end up repeating lessons they already completed. Also, if you move a student forward and it is too difficult, you will need to go back in and readjust. The program will NOT automatically adjust backward based on their progress.

-You can adjust what subject domains individual students, groups, or the whole class experience while in i-Ready Practice. For example, if your tutoring group is focusing on measurement, you can turn off all of the domains except measurement for that group to ensure they are getting measurement each time they log into i-Ready Math. If the whole class has a test coming up on geometry, then you can turn off all domains except geometry for the entire class to ensure they are getting only that domain. Raz Plus Parent Account

Teachers can register or approve parents from the Classroom Roster:
  1. Log in to Kids A-Z.
  2. Click My Classroom.
  3. Click Class Roster.
  4. Hover over the student's name and select the pencil icon on the far right.
  5. Select Parent Access on the left.
  6. Enter the parent’s name and email address.
  7. Click Add.
    • If the parent is already listed, toggle the Access button to approve or deny.
Once approved by the teacher, parents can log in by entering their email address and assigned password in the Parent login box.

I also recommend checking out the step-by-step walkthrough in our Guided Help menu on the Kids A-Z page.

If you have any questions, please respond to this email. You can also call us or check out our Help Center.

Parents can create a Learning A-Z account, then track their child's reading progress, average quiz scores, and reading levels.

To get started, the student logs into Learning A-Z through Clever.
Then the parent clicks on the "Parent" button in the upper right corner of the student's screen.
The parent then fills out their name and parent email address and clicks "Request Access".
The teacher watches for a red icon to appear next to student names on the teacher dashboard. The teacher clicks the red icon to grant access to the parents.
The parents receive an email with login instructions to begin viewing their child's Learning A-Z data.

Feel free to print and send home the directions for parents linked here:

Beanstack

Beanstack is a program LC is implementing to encourage both students and staff to become life-long readers who LOVE what they read!

ALL STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND STAFF CAN ACCESS
 BEANSTACK THROUGH CLEVER!

Students:

Students can track the minutes they read each day to earn digital badges as well as meet district and building-set challenges.
Students can read and track specific book titles to meet district and building-set challenges as well.

Click the link below to watch how STUDENTS can track their own minutes or book titles.
Students will watch this same tutorial and be trained on how to log minutes/titles during their library (or in some cases computer lab) times this week.

https://zoobean.wistia.com/medias/qcrwyjtjs1

Teachers:

Teachers have the option to track minutes or book titles for the entire class at once. You may want to do this when students have a silent read time as a whole class or when you read aloud to your whole class at once.

In addition, teachers have the option to track minutes for specific students or groups of students. For example, if your tutoring group is reading a novel together, you have the option to track the title or the minutes for that group of students.

*Remember, tracking for the class is optional, as the students will be able to track the title or minutes for themselves after they have completed the training in library (or in some cases computer) class.

Click the link below to watch how TEACHERS can track minutes or book titles for a select group of students or the entire class at once.

All Staff:

All STAFF MEMBERS are  encouraged to track THIER OWN PERSONAL reading minutes or titles as well. There may be district and/or building challenges for staff as well as students. To learn how to track your own minutes/titles click the link below:

There's an App for that!

Students can log into the app by using their student ID# as a username and password of their birthday (mmddyy).

Staff can log into the app by using their email address as the username and password: beanstackreads

*Note: Once you download the app, be sure to search YOUR school's name. The image below is just an example.
