How to Back Up Your Computer Files

Power outages, computer viruses, cyber attacks, OH MY!

You just never know what can happen....To be sure your files are never lost, there are 2 main ways to back up your files.

OPTION 1: You can save all documents (PDFs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) to your Google Drive, even if they were not originally made using Google.
Here is how:

  1. From your Google Drive, click +NEW in the upper left corner.

  2. Click File Upload and choose either Files or Folder (must use Google Chrome for Folder upload to work).

  3. Choose your file(s) or folder to upload and either double click or click open.

  4. Files are uploaded and a pop up message in the lower right corner will confirm the upload.

  5. The following video shows how to upload files at 10:00. The rest of the video showcases how to organize and utilize your Google Drive.

OPTION 2. You can save your computer files to the "(H:) Drive" on the hard drive of your teacher computer. These files are automatically backed up by Lake Central's network. (Meaning Lake Central tech dept. would be able to retrieve them should they become lost on your desktop computer.)
